From Bourgeois meat market
Five pounds of andoille
Two pounds of head cheese - one spicy and one mild
Four pounds of white boudin
Five pounds of garlic sausage (gave to my son)
Half gallon of oysters from Wilson's Oysters shucked yesterday - had some this evening
Will be gone before the weekend is up
Four pounds of Louisiana crawfish tails

Had boiled crawfish two nights in a row in Houma
Great Christmas spent with family.

Salty Dawgs are YUMMEE,MUDBUGS are even better!Ain't it kinda early?I thought they got rite around Valentines Day. Keep the faith and raise the asking price 25K.It'll suprise you how fence sitters will jump off!We tell em this ain't Vegas OR that other planet on the WEST coast!
-
Pretty early for bugs - they were more on the small to medium side and will get better over the next month or so. Our favorite place for bugs does a great job seasoning them.
-
Mighty fine booty you got there Frank. It's been a while since I had me some crawfish. Have a great New Years. Tim
-
Thanks Tim
BTW I described the frozen crawfish tails as "Louisiana" crawfish. There are a few brands on the market that are from China that I recommend avoiding like the plaque. One is marketed under the name of "Berards" which kind of sounds like a South Louisiana Cajun French name but clearly marked product of China if you look for it. The brand I brought were $10/lb and the Berard brand was $6/lb. It's not a buy USA thing - its simply the quality of the product. The ones from China are nasty - they don't taste anything like they should. -
I sure didn't do something right. We just got back from Louisiana and I don't have that good stuff  I did get to have a good shrimp po-boy in New Orleans though. I guess that makes up for it. Glad you are home safe and sound.Judy

nice haul frank and happy new year..
my oyster supplier [or pusher as in drug pusher] called yesterday ,,, if the snow south of us has not closed up the shack he will be dropping off 3 dozen this afternoon.
oysters and champagne for me tonight
-
Frank, Maybe that is why I haven't had anymore since the last time. I thought It was because I quit drinking and the taste changed.
I had them off a buffet and it had been a long time and after I tried them I thought It will be another long time. Next time I'll be sure to get them from a known source that is good.

Always good to come home with goodies. For a moment I was worried you were going Bordello on us :woohoo:
-
Asked my son if he had been to Mr. Ken's and he said they go often for lunch
-
Erters are good for you - hope they work for you
Had a dozen the other day and only 7 worked
-

I better not comment -
It wasn't Mr. Ken's. We went to Mr. Ed's Seafood & Italian (Kenner)
910 W Esplanade Ave Ste A
Kenner, LA 70065
(504) 463-3030
It's a new location and don't have a website for Kenner. The original site is on Live Oak. It was really good. Yummy crab cakes.

Just teasing with you. I scored some awesome polish sausage from a friend at work the other night. Maybe this weekend it will get cooked :>)
-
Now that my friend looks like a Cajun Buffet. Enjoy!! The sight of those oysters makes my mouth water. The problem with a problem is that you don't know it's a problem until it's a problem, and that is a big problem.

Great looking haul! Headed to the port in New Orleans right now!
Will not get there until Sunday morning. Probably stay an hour or so from the port Sat. night. Any tips? -
a half gallon at your age? you better be careful.. you could hurt yourself [and others]
and yes thank you they worked very well last time . -
Frank. Looks like you are starting the new year well stocked. A pleasure seeing you & Maria at The Coop. Feliz año nuevo!!
-
My bad - I meant Mr. Ed's. They call it the Talking Horse after the old show with Mr. Ed the talking horse.
-
Depends where that hour out of New Orleans is... if you are near Abita Springs, LA give Mike from Abita a holler and visit the Abita Beer Brewery...he is such a nice guy. You might also want to go all the way into town and stay in the French Quarter - live it up  Wish I could join you guys. We just left there last week....timing..timing.....

Susan - Do you know the general area where you will be staying and how long you will be in da hood? I can make a few recommendations.
-
Beautiful goodies Frank! Need to look up what a Salty Dog is.... hmmm, could alcohol be involved?
Happy New Year to you and your traveling companion!
T-Fluff -
TFluff, You must have led a very protective early adult life :woohoo:
Salty dog = Grapefruit juice and vodka with salt on top (I like it with a salt rim like a margarita.

I will be coming down I95. Not much time, just overnight. Maybe a good place to get some good Cajun eats, nothing fancy. Thanks!
-
Hmmmmmm - I-95 is Maine to Florida
Are you then going west on I-10? -
yes, sorry I have no sense of direction, I mean none!

We decided to stay very close to the French Quarter. VERY EGGCITED! -
If you want "nothing fancy" I would say Mother's on Poydras....try the Ferdie......yummy.....Judy

Dang Judy - I was going to suggest the same thing - no kidding. It's good from breakfast as well
Another suggestion is to go by Central Grocery (about a block from Cafe du Monde - down river and across the street) and pick up a muffelata and while you are there (and if you have room) pick up some extra Central Grocery olive mix to bring home.
An order of beignets from Cafe du Monde along with some cafe au lait is a New Orleans tradition.
If you are continuing west on I-10, pull off the road in Henderson and try some crawfish etoufee or a 50/50 fried crawfish/crawfish etoufee lunch. Any of the restaurants in the area will work.
Have a safe trip Susan.
