Being married to a woodworker I have access to a wide variety of wood scraps. I think I have heard of using oak, hubby disagrees. So I thought I would check with the eggsperts to see your recommendations. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks

Oak is fine. I usually mix it 50:50 with hickory or another wood.
