18# prime rib?
kramerdog
Posts: 19
I'll be cooking my first prime rib tomorrow, and thanks to a relative that works for a meat company, I've secured a nice 18# bone-in piece. Question is, should I cook it whole in my XL, or should I cut it in half and cook two separate pieces? Is there any advantage one way or the other?
thanks and merry Christmas!

if there is more than 2 that like ends cut it in half, you then get 4 ends

More well cooked ends if you do 2 pieces. Also if the bones have not been cut almost off the roast, I would suggest it as it makes serving a lot easier, plus you can put seasoning between the bones and roast and then tie it up before cooking.
