Well, just back from the grocery store and brought home a 25 lb turkey. Is this too big to do in the Large egg?
After I checked my set-up I don't have more than about 2 or 3 inches air space around the top of the dome in a few places. Am I being a bit too ambitious on my first bird? I already hit my head on the freezer door wrestling the thing into the fridge. Need to know before company gets here this weekend. I intend to wow them with the mad max gravy too.

You are on the edge.....Of a bird that will fit!
Just be sure the thermometer probe isn't in your bird when you close the dome. -
I'm not an expert but I think you should be fine. During the cook you will most likely have the daisy wheel closed with the eyes open (that's what I do for 350). So, the daisy wheel will be the air flow bottle neck.
Definitely watch that thermometer! Put the clip on the outside to keep it from touching the bird.
One other thing you might want to watch out for is I'm guessing the top of the bird will start browning relatively quickly because it is so high. All the heat will be rushing right over the top of it. Be ready with some foil to tent it.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
I've done a 24 pounder and it just fits. You should be fine. If you move the thermometer out, be aware your temperature will change.
