Simple Dutch Oven Chicken and Rice

The DO chicken and rice turned out fantastic. I was looking for a basic meal i could cook while camping. And i also wanted to cook a dinner in my DO. The only thing i've used my DO for is baking bread... Not that that's a bad thing but... Anyways, this fits the bill perfectly, will definately be making this again. This is a simple cook but very tasty.
Chicken dusted with BBBR
Cut up half a red onion and some garlic
heated up DO in egg, then melt some butter and brown chicken with onions and garlic
removed chicken, then made a box of long grain and wild rice per directions
chicken back in
Cook uncovered (no real reason to cook uncovered. just thought it might pick up more smoke flavor) for about half hour at around 375. Stirred occasionaly
I was very pleased with this cook. Very easy but still had alot of flavor. Definately could make this around the campfire...
Thanks for looking!

Wow!! Great post
Going to try this one over the holidays
Thanks -
That looks great man! I think you found the perfect technique for this. I'm gonna have to give this a try.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Thanks. Yeah, for such an easy meal it's pretty tasty.

Jimmy,
Some andouille and red bell peppers you would have a jambalaya. Looking good.

Very nice looking chicken dinner and a great recipe for the Dutch oven! A perfect cook for camping as well, might become a favorite around the campfire.
Just thinking I'd like to try this with two turkey thighs or a bunch of chicken thighs as I like dark meat.
I'm acquiring granite ware for cooking with the egg and I think I'll give this recipe a try with one of my new pots. Granite ware cooks best with an indirect setup as the metal is thin. Wish me luck! -
Thanks Steve. Yeah, you definately could add quite a bit to this. If would have had the peppers, trust me they would have been in. Would have added some nice color too.

Sounds like it'll be good! yeah, i think i prefer dark meat as well. Although white meat is very versatle. Most recipes call for white meat. not sure why now that i think about it... Good luck on the cook!

Looks good. I bet mushrooms would make a nice addition to that.
