    Pigasso,
that's cool! More power to them and their thoughtful off spring! So often on this board when potential eggers are here trying to cost justify buying their first BGE you hear the encouragement that "it's a lifetime investment that you'll leave to your heirs - and they'll be fighting over it!" Instead you're sharing your new found joy with your parents in reverse. GOD I wish I could have had that opportunity!

    Pigasso,
This pic is a good example of what folks are talking about when they mention the handle coming in contact with the hot ceramic during a cook. If you reverse the metal bail, it will rest slightly away from the surface of the Egg, and will not hang as directly over the fire when the lid is open. Just FYI if it proves to be an issue. [p]Mike

Pigasso,[p]That is so neat! Your mom looks like a hoot! I remember when my mom was a little younger and did a lot of gardening. I made her a gardening apron out of heavy denim with all kinds of pockets and snaps to hold things and her name embroidered on the front. She looked at it and said "why did you make me this schmati (yiddish-rag)..why couldn't you buy something at the store." Different strokes, I guess. Maybe I should have bought her a mini! Now you get the fun of teaching them how to use it! The gift that keeps on giving![p]mShark
