The manual says to use a drip pan for roasting. If i put a drip pan under the grid then does that mean the drip pans sits directly on the coals???

OrangeBeachReb,[p]No.... You either need a 2nd grid or a rib rack for use of a drip pan. [p]Your meat needs to be elivated above the pan and the pan needs to be above the coals.[p]

OrangeBeachReb,[p]Some folks put an inverted platesetter on top of the fire ring, drip pan on the platesetter, and the BGE grate sitting on the platesetter legs. Others put several fire bricks on the main grate, drip on the bricks, then put a separate 18" grid over that supported by 2-3 bricks sitting on edge.[p]Check out TNW ceramic cooker FAQ

    OrangeBeachReb,
Put that manual away! If you don't have a platesetter put your drip pan on the grid(grill) and put your meat on a v-rack or some type of rack that holds the meat above the surface of the drip pan. You want air(smoke) to flow all around the meat.

  • Thanks guys!! That helps a lot. Great forum and very responsive.
