Should I Be Worried??

I put my 9lb turkey breast on at 12:35. I wanted to cook it at 325, but it really didn't ever get much over 300. I pulled it off the second it hit 160. That was at 2:25. An hour and 50 min! Really??? Isn't that too soon??? I wrapped it in foil/towel and have it in a warmed cooler. Now, 10 min. later, it is at 166. Should I be worried?

I've had breast at 180 off the egg and still juicy

It will creep up after removing from the BGE, 6-8 degrees is not uncommon. If it hits 200F you got a problem. hehe!

I'm not worried about it going too high. My worry is that it got to 160 so fast. Everything I've read says to pull it at 160, which I did. But... why did it get there in under 2 hours??? It's at 168 now.

Thats just over 12 minutes a pound,,, not that far from normal especially for a breast only

Calibrated Thermometer?

Oh, ok. that makes me feel better. I was thinking it was going to take around 3 or 4 hours. Just thought I might have screwed something up! I guess it was just too easy!
