In my old age I have learned it is better to have a late dinner when you invite a large gathering.
So I am just now starting to get things togather for a 5:00 dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Salado TX & 30A  FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given another Mini to add to the herd.

I couldn't agree more, our dinner [10 people] is planned for 6pm, bird should take about 3.5-4hrs, so I will light the EGG at 12:30, put the bird on around 1:30-1:45. That will give me some margin, resting time and plenty of time for beverages while the wife is busying herself with cassaroles, etc.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all! :)

The older I get, the less compelled I feel to do anything other than in my own sweet time... ;) Selfish?? maybe. The rewards are worth the wait. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones!

I planned for this day well in advance - I'm not in a rush - we aren't eating until 4. The turkey is on the egg getting very happy (drip pan filled with 50/50 water - reisling  ). My husband is napping....
Once the happy turkey comes off the egg, we are packing up everything (as in the entire meal) and taking it to my mother's. Nothing is more precious than this day....oh yeah - forgot to mention that I'm sipping away on the remaining reisling and getting happy too! :woohoo:
