Jalapeno poppers with turkey meat?

I am trying to find a "healthier" jalapeno popper to make for an upcoming party (Saturday night).
I was thinking about taking some low fat shredded Cheddar Cheese and ground turkey meat, a little seasoning, stuff the peppers and put them on the Egg for about 25-30 minutes.
Almost all recipes I see on here have the Poppers wrapped in Bacon, and the cook time just says when the bacon is done, pull them.
Since I have not done poppers before, am I correct to assume just take the raw turkey meat and cheese, stuff the peppers, then do about 300-350 for 20-30 minutes and the turkey meat will cook safely, etc? Should this be direct or indirect cooking?
Anyone have any other ideas? I have a picky large group, so want to steer clear of bacon and fish too, so was thinking turkey meat + something was a safe choice.

I would cook the ground turkey first then mix with whatever. I have done turkey meatballs and they cook for 30-45 minutes, 350F indirect.
Try serving turkey meatballs in your favorite sauce as an appeteazer.
Turkey, Meatballs, Ground, Richard Fl
INGREDIENTS:
2 Lbs Turkey, Ground
1 Large Onion, Chopped Small
2 Whole Eggs
1 Cup Favorite BBQ Sauce
1 Pkg Lipton Onion Mix
"OR"
1 Pkg Knoor;s French Onion Soup Mix
2-3 Tbs Dijon Mustard
1-1 1/2 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
1-2 Cups Italian Bread Crumbs To Bind
BBQ Rub of Choice
Procedure:
1 Mix all ingredients except turkey and bread crumbs. Then mix in turkey. Slowly add in portions the bread crumbs, careful not to add so many that the meatballs will be dried out. Make meatballs about 1-1 1/2 inches in diameter. Sprinkle with your favorite BBQ rub.
BGE:
1 Set up BGE for indirect cook at 350°F and add some smoke of choice. I used apple. Place meatballs on rack with a smaller grid pizza rack to keep the meat from falling into fire. Cook about 35-45 minutes. Can be frozen
2 Will probably make great turkey burgers & meatloaf. If meat loaf pull at 150°F.
Yield: 3-4 Dozen

Thanks for the suggestion, but I was asked to make poppers somehow, so just trying to think healthier and creative.
I may just make some turkey meat in a skillet with some taco seasoning, then add the meat and some shredded cheese to the jalapeno and grill them for about 30 minutes on 350 degrees to soften the pepper and melt the cheese.
I'll make some salsa too for topping if anyone wants.
Would that work?
