Prime Rib

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
I am cooking a bone in prime rib for Christmas. I am planning on doing it at about 250 degrees over an inverted plate setter.
How long will it take per pound to cook it to medium rare?

<p />Barredrock,[p]At 250, it should take just over 30 minutes per pound to get to 130 - 135 in the center. I usually do 4.5 lb 2-bone-in roasts and they take roughly 2.5 hours to get up to temp.[p]Did I do my math right? It's late.[p]Good luck,[p]TRex

  • TRex,
Man that picture looks great. Sat. we picked up a 17#whole ribeye, letting it age now til Christmas Eve.Looking forward to it.Cooked boneless chicken breast last nite for 48 bacon wrapped ABT's..Fixing those for Mon.nite after Christmas for offspring, and grand offspring.Man how did we make it before without the egg??

TennTom,[p]we made it boringly and flavorlessly. It's the equivalent of going from black and white tv to color.
