In the mood for lasagna which I have not made before. Could use recipes and how to cook it on the BGE. Thank you, Andy

  • Andy,
i love lasagna from the egg. .. do it the same way you would in your oven, only bake it in the egg instead (don't use any extra wood as the sauce and cheese will absorb a fair amount of smoke from just the regular lump fire). ..[p]my recipe is nothing fancy. ..i make up a standard meat spaghetti sauce. . ..i take a caserole dish or pan, put some sauce on the bottom to keep the noodles from sticking, then layer some riccota cheese, some mozzerella cheese, some parmesan cheese, along with the meat sauce between alternating layers of noodles. .. i like to top mine with some of the mozzerella and sauce. . .then i set up the egg at 350 degrees dome temp, grid over inverted plate setter, and bake the lasagna for about 1 hour. . . [p]here is a pic of one that just came in off the egg. . .it was really good. .. [p]DSCN0069.jpg

Andy, I've been know to put a frozen Stouffer's lasagna in a fancy lasagna dish and then cook it. No one ever suspects me of serving store-bought lasagna! JCA

  • Andy, the BGE does magical things to stuff with cheese...lasagna, pizza, etc...use your favorite recipe and be sure to cook indirect and place the cassarole dish on something like a cake rack or like Max does with those little feet that came with the egg.
