Handle on the mini - how do you keep it out of the way?

As the proud new owner of the mini I have been reading with great interest about its searing capabilities. Over "lava" heat, how do you prevent the handle from hanging down whilst the top is open? Now, I have never done this, but I am envisioning the handle would get burned by the intense heat. PLease tell me what I am missing![p]Thanks and oinks!

Pigasso,[p]The handle won't burn. I've done a hundred sears with flames shooting everywhere and the handle has remained intact. The only problem I've had is sometimes it gets in the way of a good picture. :-)[p]TRex
  • Pigasso, my mini is a high temp steak machine, a lava sear for wandering beef, and the handle gets a lot of heat when the lid is opened. My handle is WELL scorched and seasoned and the handle does get hot, so use a glove or oven mitt when you open that lid.... Merry Christmas to ya

    Pigasso,
    Matthew:
At the request of Nature Boy I made him a complete new handle...stainless steel bale and all....that has a bend in it that keeps it from hanging down as well as no longer coming in contact with the ceramic. I'll see if I still have a pic.[p]Happy Holiday![p]Mike
