I want to smoke a brisket for chili. Should I use a rub on the brisket? If so does anyone have a suggestion? I'm affraid the rub I use now will over power the chili taste.

I like the carnivore's basic rub because it enhances the meats flavor instead of covering it with too many spices. This is 1/2 cup salt, 1 tbsp black pepper,1 tsp granulated garlic. You may also add spices for regional flavor.
  • i dont know a thing about rubs. since I have always used store bought, but why not make your own using chili powder and other spices that would normally be used in chili
