Can anyone recommend a good meat injector? Also do most people inject boston butt for low and slow cook?

I got tired of the ones that you have to pull up on the handle to suck up the marinade. SO I just got one of these and I love it. Look on ebay for it.

Gary
I have the Bajou Classics injector and it works good but I have fat fingers and its a pain for me.
As for injecting - Since I got fed up with it I have not used it and my food still tastes awesome. So at this point I do not inject anything unless I am trying something totally new and potentially dangerous!
also - did you get my email?

Like you I tossed a high dollar steel one.
Now do not inject.
The one thing I do now is Egarts Ham and for that I buy spiral and use my hands.
It works....Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
ya i agree, i bit over kill, that would be one large brisket to take all of that.

I have traditionally not injected my boston butts, but recently decided to try it and have my family do a taste test... I cooked two 8-9 lb butts, one injected, one not.. (same dry rub on the outside of both)
the results came back an overwhelming 6-1 in favor of the non-injected butt, and the non-injected actually wound up slightly more moist than the one I injected.
All aspects of what I did make up a very small sample size, but from my limited experience/trials with injections... certainly not necessary, and definitely not worth the hassle. -
I agree
Unless you are doing a competition or are using some other type of smoker I usually do not see the need to puncture your butts. It just does not seem to worth the finger paid or the damn mess! -
Thanks I did not get your email. How do you email on here?

Click on someone's username, and you will be taken to their member profile. There is an option there to email them.
Unfortunately, many email systems send emails from the forum directly to the spam folder. You might want to check there for Tim's email. -
i have both sizes of injectors made by "cabelas".... they are all stainless and are very well made...rr

Take a look at the Spitjack Magnum injector. With the full selection of needles, you can shoot everything from a 30# shoulder to a shrimp.

Lol. Well it was meant for whole hogs, but I love it for multiple butts. I use it in comps also. When you have to do a lot of meat, anything that makes it easier is welcomed.
