Royal Oak from Walmart. -RP

That which burns.

Wicked Good for long and medium cooks and RO for short ones. I do more short ones and RO is cheap and pretty good. WG is my favorite though.

Man your so picky.

Ozark Oak, and Kroger brand ( RO )
-
Favorite was Kingsford Charwood. But could not find any this year and Wally World carries RO year round.
-
For the most part I use Fire king. It works good for most cooks and it is less than $10 bucks for 20 pounds. I like Ozark Oak but I can not get it locally.
-
WG for about everything. cowboy if I am out or baking
-
Well, I guess I'm gonna have to find some Royal Oak! and give it a try.
-
I usually use Humphreys (made in PA), but for really long cooks I'll use Wicked Good.

I prefer Royal Oak and the Gordon Food Service (GFS) by my house sells a large bag of it's own brand of hardwood lump that is supposed to be made by RO. I am going to try that next.

Fire King and Royal Oak. Several of you have positive comments about Wicked Good. It's not available in my area, but I'd like to try it.
Any road will take you there if you don't know where you're going.

Eggers Prayer-
Our egg, which art in sizes, hallowed be thy smoke, thy will be grilled, at home as it is at eggfest. Give us this clay our daily brisket and forgive us our rubs, as we forgive those who gas grill against us, and lead us not to flashback but deliver us from overnighters. For thine is the grill, the smoke, the egg. Let's eat!

I use mostly Wicked Good seems to burn about 50% longer for a low and slow
-
Ozark Oak...period.
-
I have a sweet deal on the Wicked Good, so that's what I 'stock' but also use RO for hot fast cooks and recently had some Ozark oak brought north via the family and I love everything about it. fast, hot, smells friggin great, super smoke flavor and it was free. :woohoo:
Need more Ozark Oak! -
OZARK OAK,HANDS DOWN!!!I drove 60 miles to pick up some WG.A nice person was cool enough to let me in on a group buy..I was REALLY DISSAPOINTED.The cost is the main factor.I like the OO just as well and the cost is about 25% of what I paid for the WG.I do buy 2 pallets at a time direct from the OO kiln.WG was OK but NOT worth the cost.
-
I "STOCK" 2 pallets!
-
Hoss,
I'm burning through my third bag of OO and believe it to be the best yet. -
I'll bring a trailer. :woohoo:
-
-
You MY BOY,BLUE!!! Makes 'Loney taste like Prime Rib!!! :woohoo:
-
Hoss, if I ever find myself in Yellville, will O.O sell lump from their plant? What is the cost there?
-
Royal Oak is the lump I use in my cookers. Its cheap, and available (the main reason). I would like to try Ozark Oak, but its not available here in Utah.
-
Ozark Oak for 3 years and untold cooks.
-
I use Royal Oak. Made in USA.Dave San Jose, CA The Duke of Loney
-
three favorites. if i could get it it it would be maple leaf, best taste and smell, it smells incredible. close second is ozark and wg, ozark because of the flavor and wg because it has almost no flavor, withthe wg i think you can taste the different smoking woods you add better and its better for poultry and breads. what do i buy, wicked good, its cheap by the pallet here. ozark is expensive when i see it, mapleleaf is only in canada now, they need a new us distributor. wicked good was even better in the past, the new ww version isnt the same, its still good but it has more flavor and doesnt burn as long as the old comp blendfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
-
That is an interesting question.
My favorite, hands down, is Ozark Oak, but it is not easy to get up here.
My go to lump is cowboy.
I got in on a group buy for Wicked Good and would probably do it again (good price and okay to cook with), but it is not my favorite, because it has too many BIG pieces.
