An interesting article in today's Wall Street Journal (7/31/10) stating that Photobucket is one of the top 50 websites when it comes to installing tracking files (127) on your computer when you go to their site. :( Apparently Big Brother is alive and well.

Not that I doubt the accuracy of the article, but why would PB do that? I guess they are paid....?

Not surprising at all. Did you see where walmart has smart tags (product tags) that can be scanned from a distance. The article said scanners could be driven by homes and items would show off.
One of the washing detergent companies have or are going to use smart tags so they can see where their products are being used (home use).
Huge and interesting "progress" indeed.
Big brother is alive and well and getting bigger and bigger.

It's used to track you as a number as to the websites you visit and the third party info (profiles) are sold for target advertising. Here is a link to the article.

Not that I doubt the information, but I run regular SpyBot updates and scans and it has never found any tracking cookies that originate with PB.
Just interesting, and I would absolutely recommend everyone use SpyBot and run weekly updates and scans. It will make your life much easier.
