Chickens on medium BGE

I cooked a 4.75 pound chicken on the medium BGE with the vertical stand, but when I put the lid down the chicken was to high in the lid. I'm going to try to cook 2 or 3 chickens at the same time for the 4th of July, and I don't think they will fit. HELP

You could remove the fire ring and gain a couple of inches or lay them on the grill sideways. Spatchcock is the most popular form of cooking chicken on this forum but not sure if 2 would fit on a medium (I own a medium).

When I cooked them I used the plate setter with the cooking grid on top of that. Could I take out the cooking grid and place the chickens on a pan on the plate setter?George Foreman? Who?Tim C. Panama City, Fl.Large, Minimax-soon

I've cooked three chickens on my medium. Platesetter foiled, and legs up, a drip pan sitting onto of 3 copper elbows to provide a space, then the raised grid. 2 chickens were halved, the other was 1/2 and 1/4,1/4. Just squeeze them in, they will eventually shrink up.
