Ideas for Scallops?

I got the BGE cookbook and did the red chili sea scallops on a CI grill. Besides oiling the grill what else could I have done to stop the scallops from sticking. 2 min. on each side they were done to perfection except they stuck on the CI grill.

Usually if it sticks, it needs a little more time. Once seared it should release itself...especially if your cast iron is seasoned and oiled.

I was thinking the same thing, perahps the grate was not preheated enough. If they were cooked perfectly I would be hesitant to leave them on longer. Other that the sticking were they good? I have yet to try this recipe.

if they are cooked at too low a heat, they will be done, but not have developed enough sear to pull freely off.

Haven’t done any in the skillet, on the Egg, but have done them on skewers on the grate many times.
I think folk here are on the right track regarding a need for a hot grate and waiting for a good sear before you mess with them.
