Cracked Firebox -- Replace?

The cracks started out with just one huge gash going from an airhole up to the top rim. Now they are spreading around from airhole-to-airhole. It's just a matter of time before it cracks to pieces. What do you think?

Just turned mine if for warranty replacement with almost exactly the same cracks. Had one before that fell apart during a cook and it was ugly. Had to bond it back together with JB Weld while waiting on the new one.Visit my blog, dedicated to my Big Green Egg Recipies at http://www.bigtsbge.blogspot.com You can also follow my posts on FaceBook under the name Keep On Eggin' or the link http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Keep-On-Eggin/198049930216241

Thought they said they had solved the cracking problem with new design/materials. Guess not. Thanks for the info.

I could be mistaken here, but yours does not appear to be of the new design. The new design will look like yours with the initial crack from the air hole extending up to the top. Regardless, warranty replacement is called for.

Forget using anything to fix it. It's covered under warranty if you are the original purchaser. Replace it.

I got my large last weekend and the firebox had a cut running top to bottom all the way through to allow some expansion/contraction. Just wondering, do you light you fire on one side or in the middle?

I had similair cracks in my fire box. Stopped in at the warehouse in Tucker, Ga. Asked if this was a problem and the guy gave me a new one. This service brought tears to my eyes. definetly get a replacement under warranty.
