if i cannot find the egg brand starters --is there anything close to it i can buy ?i bought a bag of lump hardwood 10 # s for 7.oo ---orzark oak is the brand --is this a good price for the lumps ?

That is a good price. Take a small napkin, put a little EVOO on it. Place in the middle of the lump and lite.

This is what Mike is talking about. Cooking oil works just fine and light the lump fast.

OO is the BEST charcoal I have used to date.I pay 1/2 that but pick it up at the plant and buy a pallet at a time and pay CASH..I have bought Wicked Good,NO COMPARISON,for the price.OO is the BEST by FAR!JMHO!

make your own.... melt some paraffin and some sawdust in an old pot( stir it up).... pour it out on a sheet pan or foil...break off a piece... or use some old ice cube trays and make fire starting cubes..rr

I use the starter sticks also just another brand and do the old cooking oil and a corner of towel trick in a pinch. The Ozark Oak is my personal choice for lump. Use it long and you will be throwing rocks at MOST of the others!
