If you already have a Large and you were gifted another egg of your choice, what size would you take and why?

    I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth .... ANYTHING. :)
  • Here is the deal...My Dealer offered me any size of my choice. FREE! As a thank you for several days I've demo cooked for him, merchandized his store, and now doing a Home Show for him this weekend. So far, I have sold 7 Eggs for him this weekend. Tons of interest in NiEGGara Fest too, which will only sell more Eggs for him.
A few months ago I was saving for a Medium but I gave my savings to Haiti relief. Have not been able to save since. Heck, I'm still paying my Bar tab for Mini Frozen Fest.
Now I got this offer. Good deal eh?

I have 4, Lg,Med,Sm & Mini. If I didn't want to move it I would have another large. If I need to take it with me,the mini but only cause I'm a small person with shoulder problems, other then that it would be a small.

    Good Luck,

    Tim,

Large. Because it makes the most sense. 1 platesetter, one pizza stone, 1 adjustable rig, 1 CI grid etc

  • Agreed...Makes sense.
Sometimes I wish a had a second egg so I can cook things together but at different temps. Never thought about having to invest in double eggcessories.
    Thanks.
(You might have told me that in Minni but I don't remember much.)

    Tim,

What I meant was, if you have tjv's rig and stone, a platesetter and the rest, you could do all butts, briskets, ribs to feed an army. You can do a CI sear with a bunch of steaks and cook at a lower temp on the other, have a pizza night with two going and like that. That is why I needed four of them ;)

Tim, that's very nice! Since you were saving for medium, I'll buy you a medium and trade for an XL from your dealer :woohoo: :P Seriously, for me it's a toss-up between Large and XL...Large for being able to share accessories with the first Large, but XL is nice given that you often cook for large crowd.

My real life experience here OK? My wife and I settled on a large 10 years ago as it was a toss up between a medium and a large. I had sense enough by the time I built my table that 1 BGE wasn't going to be enough so I designed my table to be able to add a medium or a small. Fate must have directed my wife to surprise me with a small, which I added and has become my sweetheart go-to egg for 60% of my cooks! A year later my beloved again surprised me with a medium, thinking that was what I really wanted before she gave me the small! That medium has become my baking egg and has no meat grease, no wood smoke etc. Then I won a large BGE in a cooking contest, but donated it to Easter Seals for their auction. My wife thought that meant I wanted a mini and surprised me with it! The following year I won yet another large BGE and I also donated that one to Easter Seals as well. Bottomline is take whatever fate directs your way!

Tim,, I had 2 larges for a couple years and loved it. Got a small last year and find thats the best combo so now have to alternate the larges to keep them clean.
For what I cook the large/small is the best combo. Can't wait to get the mini :woohoo: :woohoo:

I agree with Steve and Pat. Another large would be the best for you. congrats on that terrific offer Tim!!! More than my guys would do for me doing demos. I might have to rethink my gig.

Tim tell him you will take 1 of each size  enjoy your 2nd egg
  • Hi Tim:

My first reaction was get a small, but since you can have any size you want, I think you should go for a large to compliment your current large. Then you can share your plate setter, CI grill, etc. between the two without having to re-invest in twice as many goodies.

    Good deal!

Gifted means given to you. The XL, so you can take it back and get a large and small.

I've got an XL and love its ability to scale. However, I would take a small due to the portability factor...I would love to be able to tailgate with a BGE!

You were saving for a Medium a few months ago. What were your reasons for wanting the Medium. If they are still valid, go with it. If not, you've gotten some awfully good advice here. I have a Large/Medium combination and like it a lot. Since I got them almost three years apart, I did not consider the interchange accessories angle.

I have a Large, and got a Medium for my 2nd one .... because the dealer carries Large and Medium only, and had a 20% Winter discount. I probably would have gotten a Small otherwise.

  • Bonjour Tim,

I got my second Large last year.

    1) Think it is a perfect size

    2) I am able to reuse platesetter, drip pans, Wok, grids, Adjustable Rig/Spider (though personallyI got one for each egg) and other items.
  • I say xl. I like my lg, but it isn't enough for a party. At least for me and my similarly shaped friends. Sometimes I still wish I had bought an xl.

However, a smaller, portable egg, is definatly something I could use.
  • Tim,

I second Steve's suggestion. If you get a different size, you will end up buying a bunch more accessories. If you keep doing these demo cooks for your dealer, perhaps you will soon have the same number of eggs as Steve  .

  • Not 100% sure, but am leaning toward a Small.
BTW, I just added to the post from yesterday, if you care to share with the folk at the show.
