Thanks, will get the cast iron grill soon .They are not cheap here Downunder and have looked at getting one from the states but the postage isnt cheap cos of the weight.

Downunder.. I was wondering why you were up so late or so early. That explains it. I just got home from graveyards. A cast iron grate is something I don't have eather. Just so many toys and so much money!LOL Not sure what toys you have but the platesetter and a good remote thermometer so you don't have to keep opening the Egg to check temps were the top of my list.

Only picked it up last thursday and had to put it together.Used it for the first time on sunday.I got the nest with it,Extras i bought were the plate setter, pizza stone, ash tool and the grill grabber. But need a temp probe ,Are they battery powered or electric?

Looks like you are getting the hang of that Egg thing you picked up the other day mate.
There are several thermometers that are battery powered.
The Maverick ET73 seems to be the most popular cable thermometer. http://www.google.com/products?q=maverick+et73&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=hUtxS5qAHo6vtgejn8GFCg&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CCEQrQQwAA
There are several others to choose from. I would think BBQ Galore could advise where you could get a good one locally.
Additionally a good instant ready is a must - the best is Thermapen. http://www.thermoworks.com/products/thermapen/splashproof_thermapen.html
Both the cable and instant read are must have eggcessories.
Suggestion: I would wrap the platesetter with Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil (HDAF) - easier to throw it out every few cooks. Just a personal preference thing.
Okay - Chick and steak so far. How about some wibs? :woohoo:
BTW - Welcome to the cult -
Small steps mate.Just trying too source some nice wibs but have not seen any like the ones i have seen on here.It wont be long though.Hickory chips?
hartley -
Geaux lite if you use hickory. I like pecan for pork with apple as a second choice. Also like oak and cherry depending on what I'm smoking. Hickory and mesquite are stronger and at the bottom of my list for smoking woods.

Great looking steaks Hartley. :P Your coming along just fine.
I use three chunks of hickory for ribs but, that is just me. Tim -
Nice cook hartley

I like using the Jack Daniels wood chips for steaks.
