12 year old Cooks up a Storm - for Real!

What a day to cook...cold, hard rain, and windy. I'm talking about that horizonal rain that feels like needles when it hits you. But - the 12 year old son (Young David) was a real trooper and stuck to it for many hours...checked temp every 30 minutes on the minute. He was on a mission!
Last night - we picked up a nice 6# Top Sirloin Roast and YD said he'd cook it. Earlier today - before the weather got nasty - we did some prep on the meat. Nothing special - just trimmed it up a little and rubbed it down with some Garlic, Salt, and Pepper
We woke up Scooby Doo - gave him a big mouthful of lump Scooby Snacks - and then stuck the tall GrateMates and the ring in his mouth...with an aluminum drip pan too. He wasn't to thrilled with this snack
Scooby was whining bad wanting some food - so we gave him a chunk of meat
Here's the Chef for the day - but he was too busy giving an interview with the Xbox to smile for the camera - just wait until you see what this kid did!
Well - after we pulled it out of Scooby's mouth - we sliced it thin for some Great Steak Hoagies- here's his cook
Game time - Plated on our finest china again with melted provolone - lettuce - and spicey mustard - added some doritos - and to save a few calories - check out the Diet Coke Chub
Also did some real oatmeal and raisin cookies on the mini - just didn't get any pics - the entire meal was pretty awesome.

Congrats to YD. Seeing more and more kids doing great cooks at eggfests.

Jimmy, like I said earlier - nice time with the family and food looks good too.
We're about to get your rain. Flood warning already in place just waiting for the storm to get hear...anytime now. -
Great Job! I am going to get my grandsons involved! I think the pizzas will get them going! (I don't care for pizza pesonally but will eat a tons to get them going!)
-
A proud moment...great for a dad to spend time teaching the finer points of BBQ...nice
-
Bill - it's a ton of water! I just jumped in my bassboat to get to the shower!
We got alot of water. Lanier is at full pool or better...in the winter! The fish have a real discombobulated look on their lips right now!

Jim,
Great job. Love to see the kids involved.
My kids are usually off playing with the neighborhood kids - I keep hoping they will take an interest, but so far they are content to let me do.
Results looked great.

Hungry - You'll start liking pizza if you do a BBQ pizza on the egg with just a hint of wood in the lump. We did a bbq chicken pizza with honey bbq sauce and a thin crust. Addded cilantro and diced onions - WOW! Doesn't taste like pizza...more like a open face bbq sammich!

LOL - Young Dave is loving the compliments! He just asked if he could do some pizzas tomorrow night. When I asked - "here or at the Cici's Buffet" - Man, you talk about a lost look on a kids face but the answer was classic. Dave said - "we'll do them on the egg if we can make a dessert pizza too"!
You gotta love it...

Too funny - probably what my kids would say too.
The only time they get to go there is when the grandparents take them.
My kids love making their pizzas - they can put just exactly what they want on them.
So I end up making 6 pies for the 6 of us, and we all have leftovers.
Richard -
dude these are the memories you will cherish when u are old like me enjoy

:woohoo: a STAR is born better get another Egg 'cause that one is his, now!

That is awesome. I try to get my daughter cooking with me as much as possible. Keep it up.This is the greatest signature EVAR!

Better get a second fridge! When his buddies discover how good the vittles are they will call your place "home". My 19 year old son eats pulled pork like he is eating a bowl of cereal. I've had my egg less than a year and he asked why I waited so long to get one!

Jimmy good looking kid. YD good looking cook, you did good.....Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.
