I was reading over the posts this morning and came across one for a Chicago Style deep dish pizza. I couldn't stand it, so I ran out and bought a pretty decent sized cake pan.
First crust into the pan with Pepperoni, Mushroom, Italian Sausage & Mozzarella cheese. 2nd crust on top with Pizza Sauce & more Mozzarella chesse. Plus a touch of garlic salt, oregano, basil, & fennel seed.
About 15 minutes into the cook at 400 degrees
Pulled off after 25 minutes
Dinner Time!

It was out of this world! I've done a few pies on the Egg, but this was hands down the best yet.
-
I gotta give that a try,it looks YUMMEE!Did you make your own crust?

My local grocery store started selling fresh pizza dough and I've been pleased with the results. I've tried regular pies at a much higher temp but found I was burning the bottom with the crust on top not quite done. They suggest cooking their dough at 400 and since I've started doing that I've had better results.

Looks good!! FYI, you can also use a CI skillet for deep dish. Even in my kitchen oven, they are GREAT! Haven't done a deep dish on the egg yet. But I will.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I seem yo have better luck with my pies around 400-450 too!

I'm reading a pizza book now (Pizza: A slice of Heaven) and it makes a distinction between Chicago Deep Dish pizza (have the crust going up the inside of the pan) and "Stuffed Pizza", which has two layers of crust.
Beat's me...I dunno.
Just sayin'!
Looks yummmy, though, I know that! -
Looks great I am going to do another one tomorrow. I will post pics tomorrow.
-
