....."high temp pizza", or "high temp cleaning" lament leading to the inevitable gasket incineration, the thought occurred to me, has anyone ever used some aluminum foil rolled up between or folded over the gaskets when jacking the Egg to ore smelting levels??

DryFly,
depending of the quality of the foil, it may make a serious mess and melt. Although Aluminum's melting point is over 1200 degrees not sure about foil. I know my gasket is almost all gone and to be honest, haven't seen much change.
my 2 cents,
