Help!! Thighs & Explosion

I first sat down and wrote this question for you guys:
I plan on smoking 4 thighs for dinner this evening along with a bacon explosion.
I'm thinking indirect at 275 for 1.5 hrs. or so on the thighs with skin off and 2.5 hours at the same temp for the explosion.
These two are a first for me. I've read that the breasts are better smoked with skin off. I'm going to marinate in a little Dale's seasoning and then try a homemade rub that I have been working on for chicken which includes (paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chipotle chili powder, sage and thyme)
Any tips or concerns?

Then I remembered that my platesetter is in a vehicle that is not here (taking it back to get a replacement due to a crack).
I need to set up for indirect without the platesetter...can it be done? If so, I still need my first post answered. LOL

Oh, it's a super fatty with a bacon blanket. Heheee. Those weaves are getting pretty popular. That's a good name as any for those. We were calling them Groundhogs in a blanket, but some folks didn't get it.Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery

Okay. It may kill me but I have to try that. Thanks for the post.

Oh, forgot to answer your question..... Can you manage either of these raised set-ups. You could cook the chicken right next to the explosion over a drip pan, or along side like I have this stuffed breast.

Thats what I am trying to figure out. I don't have any of the aftermarket setups ....yet and now I without a platesetter. I am thinking of setting the grid on the fire ring, then setting the pizza stone on top of it with a pan for the thighs......and skipping the explosion

Sure that pizza stone will act as a heat barrier. Put some kind of small rack over the pan and you are good to go.
It sounds like the explosion cooks just about like a plain fatty 2-1/2 or 3 hours at low temps, I don't know why you can't cook both. I know this is a plate setter shown, but you could use your little Egg Feet to lift the pan off the pizza stone.

You can even use some tinfoil balls to make a gap between the pan and the stone.Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery
