The last time I cooked the Thanksgiving turkey on the barbecue was 1997, on my Weber grill. I way over-cooked it, and I think from re-loading unlit briquettes every hour, the turkey had a bit of a creosote taste. What can I say, I was young - I can't even really blame the Weber.
My wife has not allowed me to do the turkey since, but I am dying to do this on the Egg. I might try one later this week (pre-day warmup), just to show wifey that it can actually be done well.
Thanks for the help,
Mark -
I completely torn whether to do my turkey this year this way or to spatchcock it over a drip pan, and do "stuffing" in the oven. Big cook planned for Sunday, have a 15 lb ham curing and a 15 lb turkey on order.
Will post pics.

Hi Doug,
I was teasing the better half about spatchcocking the turkey. Did not go over well! If you go that way, I look forward to seeing your pictures.

Hi Max!
You may recall last year I cooked our Thanks giving turkey on the LBGE a la Mad Max and my wife cooked her turkey on our weber gasser.
It was my first time using your recipe - I'm pretty sure I can follow it in greater detail this year.
Although both turkeys tasted great, the BGE turkey looked far superior. I won the turkey making challenge by a slim margin.
I love my wife, but I don't want her to get that close this year so I intend to kick it up a notch... any more helpful hints or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Wish me luck!

Max, you are a good(green) egg!

Always appreciated Max, working on a jersey for you and look forward to seeing you next weekend

Briquettes....bah. I did my first Mad Max turkey three years ago on the Egg and my wife won't have Thanksgiving without it now. It's second to none.
