Has anyone stayed at the Bohemian Armadillo Guest House before while visiting New Orleans? I'm trying to get Spring Hen interested.
The owners are Eggheads.

Leroy,
You have mail. -
Sounds like a great place to stay Leroy, we loved our short time in New Orleans, unfortunately they don't take dogs  Buzzie liked roaming the streets in the French Quarter.
-
Lots of good Eats in NOLA Leroy. A few of my favorites are Ralph and Kacoos, House of Blues, Mothers, Camilia Grill, Pierre Maspero's,Copelands and many more. It is worth a trip just fot the food. :woohoo:

i vaguely remember that they were on the forum a while back...
not that that's a help to you. but maybe they'll chime ined egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
It's my understanding the couple split up. I'm not sure which one was the Egghead. I suppose I could call them, but we've pretty much nixed the idea for now.
We'll just stay out in Metairie near Spring Hen's sister, or even at her house (we don't like to intrude).

We lived there in another life and know all about the so called good restaurants, but our experience tells us to look for a neighborhood restaurant that only the locals go to. Some don't even have real names, just initials. Their food is designed to appeal to non-tourists.

Ha... Buzzie might disappear and come back with a big grin and a Cajun Poodle in tow. Their blood line runs all the way back to last month LOL.

Thanks. Got it and it helped make up our mind. The French Quarter hasn't totally settled down yet.

If I was in Metarie and had time to stop at only one place for a meal it would be Dragos and have some Charbroiled Oysters (the original). Their other dishes are mightyfine - like the eggplant and shrimp but I normally just geaux for the charbroiled oysters.

Non touristy places, I would go to Mothers on Poydras or the Camillia Grill in up town. Mothers Roast Beef poboy is to die for.
-
they used to offer any Egger a discount if they stayed with them and cooked at least once.
As I recall they had to get out after/during the hurricane and we (the forum) chipped in to buy them an Egg because they had lost theirs in the storm. -
[/quote]Ralph and Kacoos, House of Blues, Mothers, Camilia Grill, Pierre Maspero's,Copelands and many more.
these are chains and average at best. try
herbsaint, Cochon, stella, restaurant august (or any john besh rest. for that matter), MiLa, Eleven79.
Venture away from the tourists. -

-
Good decision S.C.!!!I don't wanna see ya'll get your feathers ruffled!!! :woohoo:

Ralph and Kacoos, Mothers, Camilia Grill are not chains but may have one or more locations around New Orleans. Copelands is a chain but based out of New Orleans. Both Mothers and Camelia Grill are hole in the walls.

 R&K is owned by Picadilly for goodness sake.
