Before my BGE I have roasted cut up zucchini, summer squash, onions & potatoes, with garden herbs and drizzled with olive oil. In the gasser (Holland grill)they came out great. Using the same method in the BGE it tastes like they have been soaked in diesel fuel. Anyone have any suggestions or a recipe?

Sounds like you don't have a clean fire when you put the veggies on.

I just put on a mixed bag of onion, yellow squash, bell pepper, new potatoes, seasoned with a little olive oil, pepper, salt, thyme, dill, and garlic. I do a similar mix every couple weeks and love the results. Right now they are sitting under some thighs and breasts, drippings to flavor the veggies.

I let it burn till the smoke clears. I think it's the olive oil dripping on the coals that causes the diesel fuel taste.
  • You may be using too much oil. When I first started doing veggies I had the same experience, I thought OMG GASOLINE!!! I did it again and used a brush and just touched the veggies enough to let them know that there was oil in the room. It made all the difference in the world. Now I'm experimenting with different olive oils. I'm beginning to think I like the darker ones better.
