Just wanted to say hello... Just got my first BGE for my 40th Bday. I am putting the first match to her this evening for steaks. I have been lurking around the forum for a while getting information and figured now that I have my EGG I should join the crowd. My brother-in-law got me hooked a few months back and is giving me the general rundown on things; any initial advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!

Hi Shocker,
You found the right place. Even after you have had your egg for ten years, this is a great place to be. Welcome to the forum.

You're gonna love it.
Jump in with both feet and enjoy it. You'll be up to speed in no time at all. -
I appreciate the warm welcome... I guess my big concern is if there are any major "Don'ts" with the BGE. I look forward to the learing curve of figureing things out, just don't want to majorly mess anything up.
Thanks again! -
Welcome aboard. Listen to your BIL's advise but also form your own techniques and opinions.

Don't open the dome on a hot Egg without being certain there is enough airflow first.

Don't put your food on until the bad smoke has dissipated...you will understand that very soon.
Enjoy your egg.... :P -

Make sure and burp your EGG (ALWAYS) to ensure that you do not get a flashback.I have lost serious eyebrows and hair on the arm by rushing twice.

Welcome to the forum!! My first bit of advice would be to attend an eggfest. It's really fun to meet and get to know the people you chat with on the forum. I would highly recommend going to Atlanta for the big eggfest in October. I'm sure it's the largest gathering of forum members of any of the fests. The eggheads are a great group of people.

I believe that's two bro-inlaws that have help turn folks to the egg this week. Welcome and good luck with your cooks.

Howdy, and welcome to the forum!
Best advice I have is cook lots, try new things, and pay attention to what is being posted, and has been posted on this forum. A major wealth of info.
Cheers!
