This had to be the best pair o T-bone's I've made to date. Costco 2-pak caught my eye, huge filets and cut that day. Did TRex style with Spade-L Ranch rub and lots of olive oil:
resting...oh the pain!
Massive! 2004 Poggio Bonelli Chianti was an interesting companion...
Of course my wife snagged that huge filet...she said it was good!
You CAN teach an old dog new tricks-- Hercules is 11 and this is his first t-bone...spoiling him now.
Here's the Spade-L-- you can buy this stuff online, more sugar than most rubs but was a nice change from all the salt - try this on tri-tip...its the bomb!

I saw the two packs of T bones today at Costco also. Almost picked one up. But I saw brisket for the first time and picked up two of'em to make jerky with.
Nice cook! -
Your strip portion looks great, but I would have arm wrestled for that large mignon.

Great looking cook. I think I will put some spuds on the egg and have some baked potatoes.

My money is on Bente when it comes to the fight for the bone. Great looking cook

Those look great. Just got back from Sams with 8- 1 lb ribeyes. Hope they turn out great.

Good looking cook there.By the looks of tat char it seemed some raw sugar was in the rub and it sure looks great. But I think Fido got the best part.I can remember as a kid that what was left on the bone of a steak was mine.My mom and dad ate all of the meat but to me that will always be the best part of a steak.Guess I am telling my age here.

thanks all... yeah Darnoc the Spade-L rub has a lot of sugar- was a good char crust and worked well with the wine. That rub makes a phenomenal au jus...by the end of the meal the bits of steak and juice was a meal in itself...one of the reasons I recommend this rub highly for a roast like tri tip.

That is a well cooked piece of meat.

Nicely done! Love a good T-rex steak.

Nicely done Marge!, I found a pack of 4 BIG ribeyes at Costco last week and instead of select like Sams usually has they were Choice-came out very tasty.

Nice cook Marge

Yes, in fact these were Choice as well-- didn't think about that but perhaps why they were so juicy and tender!! that and the prep method and the fact they were cooked fairly quickly after I bought them. Thanks for the feedback

Looks delicious, and what a handsome fellow Hercules is.
