Thanks, a little intimindating as it is my first one and family is coming shortly....told my wife a just me and her run would have been nice....
-
That looks fantastic!! I'm sure it's going to be delicious! Picture perfect!!!
-
You're looking pretty good if you ask me.....what a huge bird......
-
14 pounds, maybe the angle of the pic makes it look bigger but it does....
-
Another pic, it is getting darker now but temps are around 130 in thigh and 134 in breast. That Ice trick really works as time goes by the temps have been getting closer together, they were 25 degrees apart a little while ago.
How much longer do you think? cooking at 300-325 steady -
to keep it from getting any darker, loosly tent it with aluminum foil ... . looks great. ..

Looks fantastic. You have me wanting to do a turkey.
GG -
Looks just right from here.

Nice color to boot.

THANKS TO ALL, IT WAS GREAT!! I am the hit of the family today. I did the Mad Maxx recipe but injected with Creole Butter about 4-5 hours before it went on the grill.
I also got a little bold and made a bourbon/honey glaze with some brown sugar in it that was wonderful and gave the bird a real nice shine...
Bad part is that I took it off the grill, got it resting and told everyone by as I had to meet a client... -
Please fill me in on the "ice trick".

take a look at http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ and look under recipes for "Chicken and Turkey" see "Mad Max's Turkey and Gravy" this is where I got it. I also used this recipe for the turkey except I injected the bird as stated above.
Basically put ice in a gallon zip lock bag and put it on the breasts of the turkey for 20 minutes or so just prior to cooking and then the thighs and breast get done about the same time. It worked like a charm for me as they both reached the temp I was looking for (160 in breasts and 180 in thighs) within minutes of one another.
THANKS MAX! :cheer:
