I'm trying to figure out where to get the firebricks that some people show in pics to raise the grilling surface for direct grilling (e.g. naked whiz spatchcock chicken recipe). It looks like they put three narrow bricks on the fire ring and then the grill on that to raise the grill height to somewhere around even with the lid.

Your local Ace Hardware will have them or you can order them online and they will ship them to your nearest dealer free of charge. Then you can pick them up. This is what I did and it was very easy.

If you can't find them anywhere else, they can be ordered from Ace Hardware for an exorbitant price.

None of the big box stores have them here in San Diego. I looked in the Yellow Pages for brickyards, I think. Had to go way out in the suburbs to a huge place of business that had all that stuff. Got splits at very reasonable prices. Plus gas.Judy in San Diego
