Finally, I am picking up a BGE today. Also picking up wood for table. What is the wood would be best to use. The table in the NatureWiz plans calls for OAK. Any suggestions. Thanks.

I made mine out of Cypress but it is not available through out the country. My next choice would be Cedar.

Did you look at the dozens of photos on the Whiz's website? You'll see tables in many different woods, designs, etc. Tops are all over the place - cedar, granite, corian, tile, cement, etc. etc.
Lots of folks seem to like cedar - looks good, wears well, light weight. Oak, as fine as it is, will be very heavy. -
Thanks for the input. I have looked at the various tables on the NAKEDWHIZ Website. I have taken a liking to the table done by Donn Cobaugh as well.

Did you use the cypress for top only or frame it with that as well? I have a good local source and have been leaning that way.

White oak is more suited for outdoor applications than red or other species of oak. Cypress and cedar withstand the elements well but aren't as pleasing to the eye. Teak and redwood are excellent choices but expensive.

Congrats! Which BGE did you decide on? Did you get the Big Boy? hehe Have fun with it this weekend

The whole table is Cypress. We have a Cedar and Cypress saw mill about 30 minutes away.

I got the Big Boy. As for the wood for the table I went with Redwood. The nice thing is where I bought the wood they are cutting the wood to size for me for $10.
So I will have to wait before I can get to play with my new TOY.
