Has anyone seen this grill in action? Looks like a spin off from our friendly green eggs!

You can find videos regarding this thing on YouTube. One thing to note is it doesn't have any kind of plate setter for indirect cooking.

I've seen them in Home Depot, assembled but not in action.
Not much to be impressed about. Thin wall construction and seemed pretty cheaply made to me. The gasket is the thing that really stood out to me. More like an oven door gasket that really sealed when the lid was lowered.
For the price, I'd take a pass. -
I thought the receiver hitch thing was pretty cool until I read where you can't cook on it while its on that mount. -RP

Might be thin wall but at least it's double wall with insulation between.
Much easier to move around than the Egg and if it take a hit it will only dent and not crack.
Looks like it has a nitch for what it's made to do, travel.

It might be ok but it has no support community like the egg. In the long run it will rust out. But I would like to no someone who has one to check out the cook. This is the greatest signature EVAR!

That gasket did look solid, Fidel. BGE should go to school on that.

I don't know why you can't cook on the Bubba Keg while it's still hitched to your truck. It stays cool on the outside. I'd do it.

BrooklynQ, a new forum member but long time BBQr has been testing one and has been very frank about his reviews on his blog (which you can go back for years and years to see he is not some 'plant' that Bubba Keg has, he is totally objective).Knoxville, TN
Nibble Me This -
I just took a look at one here in Ottawa. Same sorta size as a BGE.
Pros:
-light, easy to move
-can take it to the park
-upper grill swivels for some reason
-comes with cast iron grid (but not solid - it is thin and not at all heavy)
-nice gasket
-shelves are plastic, can be easily sterilized/wiped
Cons:
-cheaply made, rivets will rust, seamed steel will rust
-expensive (same as BGE)
-enamel on steel will melt in firebowl
-will rust out in 1-2 years, inside and out
-ash door sealed with silicone, will melt
-DFMT does not come off (!), will get horribly gunky
-no cover (can use BGE cover)
-cannot cook indirect easily (no platesetter)
-grid lifter dangerous if hot grid pivots (can hit body unexpectedly, impossible to straighten with ungloved hands)
Verdict: looks neat, is ultimately junk.
