Grid Cleaning Experiment

As can happen when the wife is out I did a little experiment last evening.
Some time ago I purchased a package of the “Grease Bullet” say’s right on the package “for dishwashers too”
It’s been a while since my Egg grate had that pristine shinny new appearance and with no one around to be concerned about the possible negative impacts of a little experiment I did the following.
1 put the grid on the bottom rack of the dishwasher.
2 Clean hands before I touch anything else.
3 Install regular dishwasher soap thingy on side for “normal” wash
4 Open clever bullet shaped packaging .
5 Pry out a cartridge of magic stuff from this clever packaging.
6 Thought this must be really valuable stuff that you can’t get it out of the package.
7 Installed magic stuff on “heavy” wash soap side.
8 Start dishwasher and wait for magic to happen.
Observations of experiment:
1 Initially I thought not much happened.
2 When handling the grid noticed that the remaining crud had changed from a cement like state to a soft almost powdery like state.
3 The remaining crud was easily removed with a light dry scrubbing with a “Chore Boy”
I am not affiliated with the “Grease Bullet” company or the “Chore Boy” company. Nor am I related to Billy Mays.

I bet you would do the same to your GRANDMOTHER's Cast Iron Cookware, wouldn't you?
You just cleaned off all of the seasoning that most sane people work hard to get on their grates. -
how it's done around here :silly: -
Excellent, and it doesn't dill the seasoning.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: here kitty kitty

It is possible that I am ignorant about seasoning. Do people think that a build up of "stuff" is valuble?
-
not if it was the porcelain coated grate.. can't season that....

Ha ha nice!
Hope that cast iron had cooled off first!Knoxville, TN
