Our First Pizza entirely from Scratch

Yesterday I made AZRP's pizza dough. Very easy and it made a nice looking dough. Here it is after the first rise.

My first thought was weight watchers cheese and bottled sauce.

My wife thought better and made a killer sauce. Put the pie on the egg at 550 placesetter legs down pizza stone on three smoking stones. The dang cheese did not want to melt. Kept looking down the port hole went 15 minutes which was longer than my few earlier pies. The crust was a little over cooked but still pretty good. The pie had carmalizzed onions,red and green peppers,turkey pepperoni,and fresh basil.

    Tom, one thing you don't want to skimp on is whole milk mozz, it makes all the difference. I would rather eat pizza half the time with it than twice as much without it. Good lookin pie though. -RP

    I learned that lesson tonight. The weight watchers cheese is not for pizza. I knew I was risking overcooking the dough. This is also the first time I cooked a pie with alot of toppings that may have slowed the cooking of the toppings.

    Great lookin pie Tom..I like'em kinda crispy! ;)..and ditto Randy's comments about whole milk mozz..finally broke down and tried it...like a whole different pie with it than without!

    Good looking pie. I made twice baked potato on the egg last night, forgot to pick up cheese and sent son after some and he returned with reduced fat cheese. Wife said it would not melt properly because of the reduce fat so she sent him back.

    Good looking pie and fattie, have made a few pizzas on the egg but always used a pie crust from a pizza joint. I guess I need to search for AZRP's dough recipe and hope it isn't to complicated and give it a try.
