Costco had some whole USDA Prime whole rib eyes so I brought one home, cut it up and cooked a couple of steaks. The pictures tell the story. The first shot is what happens when you don't open the lid slowly enough. Don't forget to burp the BABY!
Don't open the lid too fast.

Nice, is that arm considered rare or med rare?
-
Luckily it smelled worse than it felt!

The steaks look great, your arm....well that's not looking very good..ouch! Great grill marks on the steaks. What temp did you sear at?

Arm hair is overrated. The eyebrows missing kind of sux.

Shouldn't laugh Mike, but that is funny.

Don't forget to burp!
That's what I keep telling my bread dough yeastie-beasties in both the first and second rises!

It when you lose the short hairs that you realize you're in trouble!
 -
The stakes look great. Plenty of them too! Last time I fryed my arm hair like that and posted a pic of it, bill's oldest boy called me a "sasquach"! :P

The egg was at 500 when I seared them. 3 minutes each side. By then, the egg was down to 375 and I was hungry so I just continued to cook them till the thicker one was 125, the thin one was 135. Just right for my wife and me!

Steaks look great and the arm, well, it looks just like mine a couple of weeks ago! I don't know if there is a worse smell than that of burnt hair...

more importantly -- what was the price on that whole rib eye?
can't make out the price on the tag! -
Looks great!
I bet 90% of this forum has done that to their arm at least once
I do it about every other month. Think I'd learn by now... guess not -

Looks like $113 but that cant be right... for Prime? Best deal I think I've ever seen! -
Hey Dave,
That's right, $113 for a 16# USDA Prime ribeye. They had some steaks cut on the meat counter but they were too thin so I asked them if they had a whole one. The steaks were $8.99# but when he brought out the whole ribeye he said he gave me a special price, boy did he! $6.99 a pound, wish I had bought another one to age. Just wasn't thinking fast enough. The steaks were very very good. Thanks for asking.
