Picnic vs. Boston Butt

I've never used anything except Boston Butt for my pulled pork, however my local Publix only had Picnics this weekend.
The butcher said it ws OK for pulled pork, but since I've never tried it, I thought I would get some advice. Is a Picnic OK for pulled pork?
Thanks

I'd never done a picnic until Wed. night. Our friends picked one up for us to EGG and they're using for a chili. Got alot of help from everyone on the forum, cook as usual. They said take the skin off and most of the fat. I cooked until 192ish foiled, toweled then coolered, dropped off at their house and a few hours later they called saying how good it was. I'm off to their Baptism and I'll get to try a little later at their house. Brett

Picnics are great for pulled pork. I cook them until they hit 195 internal and the bone can pull right out - about two hours per pound.

I prefer a boston butt. It has a lot less fat.

Here in NC we pull the whole hog, which includes that there picnic

Hey that's a little misleading...you don't pull the whole hog, you still gotta have bacon, pigs feet, ribs, etc. You just pull the rest, right?
-
You need to look up Eastern NC BBQ. We pull all the meat on a whole hog.

Here's where get into the typical Eastern vs. Western argument...:)
I understand the whole hog thing. But coming from the Winston Salem/Yadkinville area we don't do such things.
But I would never turn down a plate of Eastern if it were offered.
