9lbs of Pork Loin on Small!
Options
Iowa State Egger
Posts: 337
We had a great tailgate last Saturday at the ISU vs Kent State game. The Clones came through with a victory, so life is good. I had an outing for my staff and ended up feeding about 20 people.
I started with a 9 lb loin:
I cut it in fourths. I got a good smoke going:
I am not sure what the best part of the above pictures is - the Smoke, the Egg or the Stadium in the background!
Picture of the loin on the Egg:
I made a homemade extender with an old grill I had laying around and of course those usefull BGE feet!
I cooked it at about 250, and it ended up cooking for about two hours. I pulled it at 145. I then sliced it:
Put some cheese on it and put it back on the BGE just long enough to melt the cheese:
Put it on a bun and added some BBQ sauce. I had no complaints!
Some of the people didn't understand why I was taking pictures of my meat. However, most people don't understand how awesome the BGE is!
This week we go to Iowa City to play the Chokeyes. I will be egging from home, no need to travel to that hell hole. GO CLONES.

How long did it take to cook?
-
I pulled the full loin at 145, which took the bottom peices two hours. When I pulled the bottom, I moved the top to the bottom four another 15-20 minutes.
That was kind of the cool part of the cook. As I pulled the each section off, I wrapped each individually in foil. As people showed up, I sliced as needed, threw back on the Egg to melt the cheese and heat back up.
I got to the tailgate at noon, and put the meat on at 1:00. The meat was done between 3:00 and 3:30, but I served my last sandwich at 5:30. Kickoff was at 6:00. -
I wouldn't waste the hour and half drive either to watch the Suckclones lose by 2 touchdowns. Go Hawks!

I set the over/under on the Hawk fans booing their quarterback at 1.5. I think they may be confused on Saturday, they will probably BOO Stanzi off the field and then just continue BOOING as Christensen runs onto the field. They may just get BOO'ED out.
It would be and ISU/IOWA game without a little smack talk! -
No wasn't me but But I think you need to start thinking about a mini ,What if some kid starts crabbin ( not a clone kid ) want a hot dog or a big burger ,your all set
I just love mine it works great

You might be right about the mini, would be a great addition to my Large and Small, and a great addition to the tailgates.
What part of NW Iowa, if you don't mind me asking. I spent a little of my childhood in Hartley, so I am somewhat familar with the area. -
Ya I live in Sibley ,have all my life small world
