Thanks for the heads-up, Skitzafranek! Hardly any accessories available for it and I'm wondering if anyone's done any improvising, etc. Any tips would be most appreciated!~~

Hi Rascal, I have a small soap stone that I use as a plate setter and found a round cake cooling rack that works as a raised grate with something to raise it. I have a wrought iron flower pot holder that works perfect! LOL it is amazing what you can use when you start looking around. Julie

I am most grateful (npi!) for all the replies! When you bought your mini, did it come assembled or is that something I'll have to deal with? Gotta learn how to work with soap stone and also to trim a pizza stone. Lots of ideas for my new toy!~~ 8 - )

Thank you for the neat slide show! Guess I'll have to do some investigating on soap stone. Did you fabricate the raised cooking grid? I think I'm going to like this!!~~
-
I certainly will! I guess like with all BGE's, I've got to temper my cooks in the beginning so as not to fry the gasket?~~

they come disassembled, but are a breeze to put together. you'll need a pair of pliers and a phillips screwdriver. george told me you can't tighten the straps too much, the bolts will break before the egg.
also, i did a bit of light hammering at the bottom silver piece (top and bottome) that control the screen and door at the bottom and they work like on my large BGE now.
(sorry i don't know proper terminology) -
raised grid is a pie plate and a steamer insert from a rice cooker or pot, found it in the basement.
you can grind down a pizza stone or use soapstone. look up soapsstone counter tops try to get a scrap -
Grilled chicken brats yesterday on the mini.
Here is a game hen with indirect modifications.
Have fun!

How did you do that??~~

I cut a pizza stone down to make a mini plate setter. Used an angle grinder with a masory disc. Not an easy job but I sure use the plate setter often and glad I have it. The mini is happy also. -
That is really neat
-
Got any more cool stuff like that
Dave -
Nice control of the angle grinder.
