Boy oh Boy I now have a new love for my small ,I did the foil in the gap ,IT Works ,I never saw 600 before unless I used a hair dryer ,Could not waist the heat so I did the Freds Music thing ( best burger ever ) on youtube .I had my meat store make up 75/25 mix and froze them .
But it realy makes the small much hotter

    Didnt someone say that the gap does indeed serve a purpose? Like allowing a percentage of air flow so keep the shell from overheating... Maybe I dreamed it.

    I noticed a gap in my Large also.

    Has TNW weighed in on this subject yet?

    Maybe I missed that ,but 450 is all I use to get with out hair dryer

    in some older kamados, those gaps have been mortared (filled in).

    as long as whatever you put there doesn't expand and push outward (to cgrack the shell), i think it would be fine. interesting development.

    i'd hate to write here what I did to my small in order to see if i could get consistent quick/high temps.
