Digi Q II temp accuracy?

Hi,
I just recieved my Digi Q II and am trying it out tonight(no cook, just temp control test runs). I clipped the pit probe to the BGE thermometer. They read about 20 degrees different. I calibrated the BGE when I first got it about a month ago, but have done several 750+ degree steaks since. Could it be off already? I can only imagine that the Digi Q temp would be more accurate. I clipped it about one inch from the end of the BGE thermometer.
Thanks for any advice.

Your dome thermo can be off already, but so can the Digi.
Both can be calibrated with boiling water (the Digi also requires ice water).
Check them both. -
Thanks for the reply,
is there a way to adjust the digi q if it is off? or just do the math? I know how to adjust the BGE one.
Thanks -
The digi can be adjusted. it is in the instructions that came with the unit.
Pretty easy process. Mine was off 3 or 4 degrees iirc. -
thanks,
problem solved. BGE was off, Digi Q was perfect @ 32 degrees and at 212. Thanks Fidel, I would not have done it with ice water, had you not mentioned it. -
Glad to help.
Never hurts to check those thermos before a long cook. Better to spend an extras ten minutes than possibly ruin a nice hunk of meat. -
How do you adjust you calibrate you BGE temp gage?
-
Stick the tip in boiling water. If it doesn't read 212 (or the temp of boiling water at your particular altitude) then turn the nut on the back of the dial until it does.
That's it. -
I just recieved my digi 2. how good is this thang?SEE YOU IN FLORIDA, March 14th and 15th 2014 http://www.sunshinestateeggfest.com You must master temp, smoke, and time to achive moisture, taste, and texture! Visit www.bubbatim.com for BRISKET HELP

Trust me... Once you use it, you will always be looking for it.

Good Enough to control the temp of a large BGE cooking 6 pork butts all night long.
Good enough that I went to sleep with three eggs cooking 6 butts each..
Good enough that I rely on them when i compete.
Good enough .... well you get the idea.. -
Anything under about 450 from smokin cheese to pizzas, I use the digiQ2 whether on large or small egg...

good day
help -- i am new to the bge world and am trying to smoke a couple of pork butts with my large egg using the digi q II --
i have set the temp at 225 and clipped the pit probe onto the dome thermometer
my problem is that the temp keeps rising way too high (over 280) - when this occurs, i open the lid to lower the temp and the whole process starts over
i don't think it is that the thermometers are off -- the temps on the digi q and the dome thermometer are consistent with each other - but i cannot get them to stay at 225
any suggestions ??
thanks
