Fill it up to about 1/2 way up the fire ring. Set dome temp at 250, make sure butts aren't touching and it should take about 12-16 hours, depending on the size.

AG is deadon, even though he it "stuck" in the great Lone Star State - I can add only one thing, with 4 butts, make sure you've got space between them, they should not touch. This will promote air flow and even heat. Good luck!!

It is always better to have too much than not enough. I always clean out my egg end then load some fresh lump and then dump the left over on top and then top off with more fresh. You are going to burn it anyway and it is easier to load the egg only once and then set it and forget it.

You never want to run out. Fill it all the way up to the top of the fire box. Make sure all air holes are clear and you are good to go!
