Considering the egg and interested in details of operation. The website isn't very informative. Is there any place on line I can view the instruction manual?
Thanks for your time.

There is a world of information at this link:
http://www.nakedwhiz.com/
Follow the links to ceramic cookers and Inormation Central. TNW even has an old manual posted.
If you look at some of the posts here, you will get an idea how they work and the limitless possibilities for cooking. -

Honestly, there isn't much of an instruction manual. Read the Whiz site on temp control. Other than that, it is simply charcoal and fire to light it.
It is a simple yet effective, efficient, and amazing cooker. -
Any chance you live near any of the upcoming Eggfest sites? That way you can see many people with many eggs and talk one on one. Really though the learning curve is pretty basic and quick to grasp.Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

I'm not new to cooking or smoking, I'm looking for basic operational information as well as maintenance data. Stuff like "how do I add coal during cooking," which is not obvious looking at the device.

Man, if you're adding lump during a cook on the Egg, you've got one heck of a long cook going. Folks here do cooks 24 hours or longer on a single load.

My friend started 2 picnic hams at 250 degrees last Friday at 11:00 pm. After taking them off 4:00 pm the next day he cranked it up to 375 to cook a couple of rounds of sausage. He left the Guru running all night (beer:))and woke up Sunday morning and the Egg was still 300 degrees. All on one load of lump in a LBGE.

That is the beauty of this cooking aparatus over other cookers...if you load it correctly, which is very easy...you can cook for 24 hours or more and never add anything after you start the fire....I cooked 2 butts for 14 hours...took them off and wrapped them ,then I cooked bread at 500 degrees in a Cast iron dutch oven for 1 hour and then cooked pizzas for lunch at 600 degrees...all on the same lump charcoal...amazing... :silly:

BTW....I have cooked for over 6 hours on my Small Green Egg without loading anymore lump...the above mentioned was on my large...yes a lot of us have 2 or more eggs...because of the increased versatility two Eggs gives you...remember if 1 is good 2 must be better.....

If you run out of lump during a cook, you were cheap and didn't load up the egg to it useable capacity which will burn for over 30 hours at 250 degrees!!! You can always reuse the old leftover lump from the previous fires that is the beauty of the Egg!
If 2 is better than one then I must be near perfect!!! :woohoo:
