Anybody have and use the 'bear claws" for pulled pork?
are they worth the investment and shipping or just another gadget that will end up in the junk drawer ?
Amazon has them 9.99
shipping 16.99
two forks 0.00

have them and love them. I use them for taking large roasts and hams and turkeys off the egg too.

Yes I do like them. The only drawback is the meat tends to be in larger chunks. OTOH if you're pulling multiple butts you can't beat them!
BTW try this site - their S & H is better and there are lots of other goodies and sauces etc available here.

Great accessory! Except for pulling. They shred the meat too much. It's better to pull your butts by hand. They are great, though, for lifting hot items such as butts, hams, turkeys, etc.

With malice toward none, I've wondered the same... I've used 2 large meat forks and have pulled some pretty darn-good pork! The "misc." drawers in my kitchens are so full of non-essential gadgets that it's hard to find what I really need! Perhaps if they were tethered and hanging on the wall I could justify the buy! 8 - )

My wife picked me up some over sized forks that work awesome. My previous method was to pull it apart by hand then chop it. Since the forks have arrived, I no longer chop as the meat comes out perfectly 'pulled'.
I was about to purchase the bear claws, but the wife beat me to the punch. -
I have a friend who does catering of BBQ...he has 3 pair and loves them...he bought all of his on Ebay.........

Does anyone besides myself prefer chopped pork to pulled pork? Just curious.

sorry i forgot to finish my amazon shows shipping at about 1/2 of yours wonder why?

We are going to do 6ea butts this weekend and plan to give the bear claws a whirl. They look like they will make the job go much faster, as if anything goes fast with a butt cook.

Yes, the advantage with them is speed except if you're one who likes to finesse the meat into smaller pieces or pick out the undesirable fat pockets then you'll find reverting to forks works for that process better. Once 4 of us pulled 8 butts - 3 had claws and the other guy was the fork man.Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

We will have an extra guy on hand....I think I just found our fork man!

I've used a pair for the past 3 years, and really like them. Just for kicks, on father's day, I decided to use a meat cleaver and chop the butt, like they do in the BBQ restaurants. Now I think I like that better. I separated what I could with a carving fork to get the big fat pockets out, then hacked away with the cleaver. Sounds like a hitchcock movie, but it worked pretty good, and was therapeutic also!

Yeah, I do now. See my post above.

You want to send me a check for 17.50 I,ll send you a brand new pair still in wrapper
