I have chips in the exterior ceramic coating on my egg. How can I repair these?

Do you mean actual chips of glaze missing or do you mean the crazing that normally occurs? How big? Do you have a photo? The Naked Whiz

Chips in the glazing. About 5 of them. Biggest is about 1/2 inch diameter. Others significantly smaller. Sorry, no pictures...I have to work on that.

Hmmm, I'd call Atlanta headquarters for ideas. I assume the problem is cosmetic and not structural? Maybe some heat resistant paint can cover the damage? The Naked Whiz

Strictly cosmetic. I'll call. By the way...your website is the work of GOD...(well, maybe a disciple). Thanks.

I had a few chips on the edges where the top and bottom meet. I went to a craft store and bought a small bottle of ceramic paint that was a dead ringer for the BGE green. Two years later and still looks good.

Thanks, that sounds quick and easy.

I called Bruce at Customer Service at the Mother Ship about the same problem with my recently rescued medium which has two significant chips in the dome -- my guess is they were caused by some kids throwing rocks at it or some such
sacrilege.
I discussed using furnace cement to fill back in to the original surface area, perhaps even carving them somewhat to match the texture if possible. Bruce thought that might work, but figured that just painting it would work nearly as well when viewed from a distance.
He sent a small bottle of touch-up paint to me. I am going to try the furnace cement and paint early next week and will post pictures if that would be of help to you. -
That would be a great help. Sounds like a very good idea. My damage is not quite as severe as your photos show. I'll do a more thorough inspection. Thanks alot.

The chips and cracks I repaired on my original large was repaired with JB Weld and then painted over with a paint that you can get from the manufacturer.Visit my blog, dedicated to my Big Green Egg Recipies at http://www.bigtsbge.blogspot.com You can also follow my posts on FaceBook under the name Keep On Eggin' or the link http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Keep-On-Eggin/198049930216241

Tony, I have an epoxy clay mix call FIX-IT. Says it will withstand 500 degrees. Think that would do it?
Thanks
