That's a great color on those, Peter. Did you use a smoking wood to get that?

I have to agree on the color. How did you get such a nice looking color?

J (and also E), Thanks!
Sorry, but I don't even know what a smoking wood is. I used the Picnic charwood with some mesquite chunks thrown in at the last minute for flavor.
The color might have been enhanced a bit by the software editing to improve the photos. -
The meat looks good, but tell us about the 87 cab!!!!!

Dark red.
Ripe currant/cassis, damp oak, root beer in bouquet.
Full bodied on palate, medium tannins, dense dark fruits, perhaps a bit (appealingly) creamy in texture, black pepper, spice, classic weedy dill tones.
Long flavorful finish. [93] -
Excellent.
I find myself in somehat of a quandry. I recently moved to a home with a smaller wine cellar than the previous. With the weather getting warmer, I find myself with about 20-30 bottles of mature Cabs & Bordeux's that I absolutely must uncork in the next few weeks. -

B, So, where are you? -
The mesquite would be your smoking wood. I would have guessed cherry, based on how deliciously red they got. Very nice steaks, Peter.

Pete, I am in the North Atlanta Burbs. It seems alot fo folks on this forum are in the area. Maybe it has something to do with BGE headquarters being here.
Where are you?
