It doesn't need a finish if you don't mind it weathering and the color changing. If you want to try to maintain the original color of the cypress, you could finish it.The Naked Whiz

Finish it. ESPECIALLY if you like things to appear clean. Cypress is porus and it will stain very quickly (grease, et al).
